Summer is finally here, thank goodness.  The temperature here in Maine is finally a nice balmy 96 degrees.  Everyone here has taken to wearing little sundresses every day.  With the weather so sweet, I have become less maintenance in the makeup department however.  No use in putting on layers of color when skin is tan and humidity is high (don’t you just hate when the makeup melts off).  My makeup routine now consists of sometinted SPF and a great lip color.  Thank you Mary Kay for providing me with 2 great lip products to help me stay pretty, without much effort.

MaryKay Nourishine PLus Lip Gloss 7.1.13For day, I prefer a light shimmery lip gloss. The NEW Special Edition Beauty That Counts Mary Kay NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss is the perfect gloss for daytime wear.  It comes in a pretty tube with a gold screw cap.  The product is swirled within the tube, a light, pretty pink swirled with a shimmery gold. The shimmery peachy-pink shade works well on all skin tones.  This lip gloss is full of Vitamin E, which is so nourishing, smoothing protecting and conditioning for your lips.  This formula gives you brilliant shine plus and instant boost of moisture that leaves lips feeling supple.  This is a wonderful lip gloss, and at a price of $14 it really can’t be beat.

MaryKay Creme Lipstick One Woman Can 7.1.13For night, I like to go with a bold lipstick.  However, it must feel great on my lips, apply nicely and most importantly STAY PUT! Mary Kay’s Special Edition Beauty that Counts Crème Lipstick does all three.  The color I used is called “One Woman Can”, and it is a delightful deep raspberry tint with a swirl of shimmery pink throughout.  Some lipsticks dry out the lip, causing a flaky colored mess.  This lipstick applies easily and feels soft on my lips. The color is great, and I received many compliments. Most importantly is the staying power.  Hours later the color is still strong, and my lips still soft.  Who could ask for more in a lipstick?!?

Mary Kay Ash (founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics) was a true pioneer in the independent sales comedic industry.  When Mary Kay Ash “retired” from a successful career in direct sales in early 1963, she decided to write a book to help women survive in the male-dominated business world. She made two lists. One contained things the companies for which she had worked had done right; the other included the things she felt they could have done better. When she reviewed the lists, Mary Kay realized that she had inadvertently created a marketing plan for a dream company – one which would provide women with open ended potential to achieve personal and financial success.  With her life savings of $5,000 and the help of her 20-year-old son Richard Rogers, Mary Kay launched her dream company on Friday, Sept. 13, 1963.  Her                    company, as we all know, is a HUGE success.

mary kay ask founderMary Kay adopted the Golden Rule as her guiding philosophy, determining that the best course of action in virtually any situation could be easily discerned by doing unto others as you would have them do unto you. She also steadfastly believed that life’s priorities should be kept in their proper order, which to her meant putting faith first, family second and career third.

Today, Mary Kay remains true to the principles of Mary Kay Ash.

After doing a little research, I found that not only are these products fabulous to use, but they also carry with them a good karma story.  In honor of Mary Kay’s 50th Anniversary, May 16 through Nov. 15, 2013, with each sale of special-edition Beauty That Counts® lip products, $1 will be donated to The Mary Kay FoundationSM to help bring an end to domestic violence. The Mary Kay foundation has donated millions of dollars to help numerous organizations worldwide by providing funds to help victims of domestic violence a chance to heal, cancer sufferers hope for tomorrow and orphaned children a reason to smile.

I love when a great product has a great story, and these lip products are worth recommending, both for their quality and for their good karma story.  I urge you to find a Mary Kay consultant in your area and try out these great lip products!!
