The desire to look attractive is deeply rooted in people especially with the fairer sex. Everyone tries to give utmost care to the skin and rest of the face, neglecting the lips. The lips are devoid of sweat glands and they are repeatedly exposed and abused by irritants like environmental pollutants, food and drinks, weather and of course the tip of your tongue.

Pamper your lips and bring back that lusciousness by following these simple tips and tricks:

  • No licking, no picking:

Licking your lips can give you immense relief as it cools the lips down, but it makes the problem worse. Once the saliva evaporates, the lips become drier than before. The enzyme that clean mouth and digest food is harsh for your lips. Constant licking, biting and picking can cause cheilitis, an inflamed crusty patch, which forms at the corners of the mouth.

  • The perilous smooch:

Do not lock lips with someone inflicted by a sore or infection on the mouth or face. The American Academy Of Dermatology states that by age of 50, nearly 90% of Americans have been exposed to herpes simplex.

  • Know your cosmetics:

Use the right lip balm. Thinner lip balms and glosses evaporate quickly and will not provide long lasting moisturising effects. Opt for products with a base of beeswax, almond oil and paraffin. These seal in moisture and will not evaporate quickly. Use products devoid of fragrances and silicone, which saps moisture.

“IT Girls” are women who set trends, create their own signature look and always look effortlessly beautiful. Sure, it’s easier to gain that title when you’re constantly in the spotlight, and have a stylist, manicurist and makeup artist in your entourage, but celebrities aren’t the only ones who get to have all the fun.

The average woman can become the “IT Girl” in her social circle by ensuring that she has this season’s must-haves. As far as beauty goes, IT Cosmetics and Custom Nail Solutions Impression System are the must-haves for this fall.

IT Cosmetics enhances your natural beauty with their “Your Lips But Better” line or YLBB. My personal favorites from the collection are the Waterproof Lip Liner Stain, Vitality Lip Blush and Vitality Lip Flush.

It Cosmetics

  • The Waterproof Lip Liner Stain is an ultra luxe, automatic lip liner pencil infused with a stain. This game-changer acts as a lip liner, lip primer and long-wear stain all in one. It’s perfect for a date that you know will end in a goodnight kiss… or steamy make-out session.
  • The Vitality Lip Blush Hydrating Gloss Stain is another amazing multi-tasker. It serves as a hydrating lip gloss, anti-aging lip serum and lip stain all in one. It delivers high shine and rich pigment that glides on like a lightweight serum and keeps lips smooth and hydrated throughout the day.
  • The Vitality Lip Flush 4-in-1 Natural Anti-Aging Lipstick Stain takes the place of four products; your lipstick, anti-aging conditioning lip balm, ultra-hydrating lip gloss, and lip stain. I love that all the products are infused with innovative anti-aging ingredients to keep my pout looking youthful.

Remember being a kid and coloring with one of those mutli-colored pens? This cute Flower Petite Fleurs Pocket Triplets Lipstick brought me back to my childhood when I used those pencils that had multiple colors in one tool.

Flower Beauty Lip Pocket Triplet 8.30.13 Certified Fabulous

The design is very creative; it features a small bullet shaped tube with three colors inside. You pop one shade out, slide it through the bottom of the barrel and the second shade will pop up in its place. Genius!

The color is very concentrated which I was not expecting but really delivers a lot of pigment so the color you see is the color you get. I liked the three shades and had a lot of fun experimenting with the colors. Two of the three shades have a cream finish and one has a sort of iridescent finish that looks pretty layered over either of the other two shades. The formula can be a bit drying (as many lipsticks are) so I would definitely recommend wearing a moisturizing lip balm underneath.

For under $7, this three-in-one lip color is a total steal!

"Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick, and pull yourself together" - Elizabeth Taylor

I love that quote from Elizabeth Taylor. It's kind of exactly what you need to do after a long/rough day or work week. When I put lipstick on, I feel like I have my life together; if I have the time to coordinate a good lipstick with my outfit, and I have enough time to apply it just right, then I feel like I'm doing pretty well. Call it crazy, but it's the little things.

For this lovely FLOWER week I tried three Flower Kiss Sticks Luxury Lip Color and I love them! My lipstick can't be drying or boring, so thankfully these Flower lipsticks are nothing of the sort; they are all very hydrating, smooth, vibrant pigements, and long lasting! The different colors make a great addition to a vairety of outfits and convey different tones.

Petal Kiss

This is a very pretty pink mauve Kiss Stick that goes with a lot of colors. It's a great day shade for the office, meeting with friends, or casual weekend style.

I have a nice full set of lips, but never really wear lipstick. I love a nice gloss, or a nice chapstick, but when it comes to my lips, I prefer more function (soothing moisturization) to color. Then I was given Smashbox’s Be legendary Lipstick in Primrose, and I am now a lipstick lover after receiving so many compliments on my pretty pout.

As modern civilizations started to make rapid advances in technology and chemistry, the first manmade lipstick appeared as a cosmetic tool for the wealthy women and men of ancient Mesopotamia, Indus Valley Region and Egypt. Egypt especially managed to advance the art of lipstick making, managing to produce bright red carmine lipstick that are made from cochineal insect pigments, which is a timeless technique that is in use even today. Those lipsticks were made from powdered and processed bodies of cochineal insects or purple extracts of seaweed, mixed with various oils and waxes. History books will forever remember various important Egyptian figures that were depicted in their hydrographic images with various cosmetic enhancements – Nefertiti’s black eyeliner or Cleopatra’s bright red lips. Thankfully today there are rules against using insect parts in our skincare and makeup. The thought of smearing bug guts on my mouth is enough to make me retch.

Be Legendary Lipstick in Primrose is the perfect daily wear lipstick. The color is neutral, butSmashbox Be Legendary Lipstick 6.17.2013 e828e34c831c5d2a282b61e5064c7f67 bright enough to be worn for day or night. Primrose can be described as a neutral dusty rose shade, with more pinks than reds or oranges. I have a more olive skin tone, so pinks work well on me. This lipstick applies smoothly, and does not feel slimy or greasy like some others. It has amazing staying power. The night I wore it out for the first time I was quite liberal with my kisses, and managed to not smear anyone’s cheek or clothing. I got plenty of compliments on the shade, which is always the best indicator for how well a color looks on ones face. I truly love this lipstick and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good neutral shade that works well with any look, day or night.

Hello Readers! I hope you are enjoyed the holiday season. I have yet another blog, about yet another lipstick. However, this lipstick is a trusted favorite of mine - a go to for various reasons and occasions. This lipstick is the Revlon Matte Lipstick Pink Pout. Although I do like other Revlon Matte shades, the Pink Pout is my favorite so far.

Revlon final

What I love about this lipstick is both the color and the finish. The pink is a light shade, yet still a bold color choice, but I do not feel that it is overwhelmingly pink (which is good for me because I'm not usually one to wear pink). I wear this lipstick sometimes to my internship and often going out. It's a great go to lipstick; it isn't too bright but still adds a little pop of color to any outfit. I also really like the matte finish. I think if this were glossy it would be a bit too pink for me, but since this is matte it is this nice dewy pink. You can always add a gloss on top of the matte if you feel like changing it up! Another thing is that I always like the way the matte looks in pictures. Sometimes when I wear glossy lipstick, the shine with the flash can be a bit unflattering, but I've noticed with the matte my lipstick always looks more natural, rich, and chic. Now, I know you might be a bit worried about the matte being a really drying lipstick, but I feel like this Revlon Matte doesn't dry out my lips and I usually do a quick lip scrub (olive oil and sugar) before applying it just to make sure I get a clean finish. However, the lip scrub isn't always necessary.

All in all, this has been one of my favorite lipsticks for quite some time now, and I haven't found anything better to replace it. Added bonus, you can get Revlon lipsticks at local stores such as CVS and Target and it won't break your bank!

So which do you prefer? Matte or glossy?
