Former DR. 90210 Surgeon Creates Charity to Provide Reconstructive Surgery to Breast Cancer Survivors

Addressing Needs of Patients whose Medical Insurance Does Not Cover Secondary Aesthetic Surgery

Dr. Gary Motykie founded The Healing Curve in 2008, as a non-profit organization, with the primary mission of providing reconstructive surgery to breast cancer survivors. Although insurance providers cover the initial reconstruction after breast cancer, they often do not cover the secondary aesthetic surgeries that are necessary for survivors to feel like women again.

“I started The Healing Curve to help those women who have won the battle against breast cancer but have been left feeling incomplete in the process. These women have already been through so much with cancer itself; they deserve the best possible breast reconstruction that plastic surgery can offer.”

Motykie says that the charity’s first goal is to offer the highest standard of reconstructive surgery and associated medical care to individuals who otherwise cannot afford it. His team is working hard to establish nationwide awareness in order to give these individuals hope and a support system to help them complete their journey. The long-term goal for the non-profit is to create strategic partnerships and align with other charities, organizations and physicians that support this vision.

parker jotter pen breast cancer awareness october pink

1) Parker’s Pink Jotter pen gives to City of Hope (www.cityofhope.org) which helps support breast cancer research, treatment and education.

The elegant pen is is a perfect size for taking with you where ever you go and had a sturdy (Parker's famous) Arrow Clip holder that shows detailed quality in the design. The pen is pink (of course) to highlight the cause and writes in blue ink very fluently and eloquently! It feels natural in the grip of my hand and I love keeping this around on my desk or even bring it to meetings, I know I can always find the "pink pen" and not forget it or have someone steal it :) LOVE Parker Pens! www.parkerpen.com
