6 Summer Road Trip Must Haves!

This Summer my husband and I went on a road trip from Maine to Georgia for my brother's wedding. It took us 26 hours total to get from one end of the eastern coast to the other (thanks to stops, traffic, and diverting from course to see the Chesapeake Bay Bridge). I've found when I tell people that we decided to drive instead of fly, I get reactions of disgust and sympathy. But I have no idea why, it was amazing!

We love road trips and we try to take one every other summer. So why do so many people think of a road trip with dread? Well, my theory is that it's because they aren't preparing the right way (also the fact that we don't have kids yet may help...). Make sure you have your GPS and charger (if you have one), your maps (yes, even if you have the GPS as well). Always make sure to have a good old fashioned atlas in the backseat (just in case), a first aid kit, snacks, water, and good music. I also always splurge for a good audio book to help me drive through the night.

But while all that is necessary, you need to ensure you can remain comfortably locked in a moving metal cage for hours (or days) on end. Here is my beauty product checklist to make you comfortable throughout the trip:

1. La Roche-Posay Thermal Water. This soothing water is a fine mist spray that's perfect for La Roche Posay thermal spray waterrefreshing your face at rest areas or when stopping for food. It tones and refreshes skin, perfect for after spending hours in the car. It's like a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer in a super quick spray!

Bath and Body Works PocketBacs2. Bath & Body Works PocketBac Hand Sanitizers. Not surprisingly, on the road means a limited supply of sinks and hand soap. I'm sure I don't need to convince you of the importance of hand sanitizer however, let me recommend Bath & Body Works mini PocketBacs! They smell great, come in super convenient sizes, and they're cheap! I had one in my purse, my suitcase, my car, my pocket, everywhere.

3. Boscia BB Cream. This BB Cream is light and creamy. It's easy to apply and blends in quickly. Boscia BB CreamMaking it the perfect BB Cream to even out your skintone and can be applied in the car at the 24 hour Diner before heading inside.

Soap Glory Face Wipes4. Soap & Glory Off Your Face™ Wipes Cleansing Cloths. Even with the air blasting the entire trip, it was hot and we got sweaty and gross. These little wipes were great for freshening up when the thermal water just wasn't enough. Once at the wedding, these beauties also were fantastic at removing my make-up (including the water-proof mascara that held through all the tears).

5. Neutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen. With the sun beating down on your faceNeutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen for hours and hours, a facial sunblock is key to protecting your skin and keeping it looking fresh. Neutrogena's products are always gentle on skin and this face sunscreen wasn't too greasy. I even used it as a primer for make-up (which I had forgotten to pack) and it worked really well! It even helped keep my face moisturized as it protected.

Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo6. Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Dry ShampooMy hair is very fine and thick, and if I don't wash it regularly, it gets heavy and gross with grease. I pictured stepping out of my car in the presence of my entire extended family with a mop of unimaginable hair and was not happy. This Dry Shampoo worked perfectly. It smelled great (an issue I've had with other Dry Shampoos), worked well and really made my hair look clean and healthy.

These products all have two things in common: easy to travel with and quick to use. Every time we stopped I was able to touch up my hair and my face so I looked and felt refreshed, all before my husband was done stretching. It made for a very comfortable trip.
